6 year old Tuscon Boy dies after being hit by UPS Package Car

TUCSON — Police have identified a boy who was killed after he was struck by a UPS truck in a Tucson apartment complex.

Prayers to the family of the boy and to the UPS driver.

According to police, the UPS driver was making deliveries at the apartment complex Friday afternoon and was backing up into a parking space.

The driver checked his mirrors, a backup camera and honked the horn before backing up, police said.

The boy had been riding behind the vehicle when he was struck. He was not wearing a helmet.

No citations were issued to him.

Such a shame, RIP young man. Prayers to his family and the driver, I can't imagine having to deal with knowing that you (clearly unintentionally) killed a young boy.

I always used to get nervous when kids were riding/playing behind my truck

I cannot imagine the pain that driver will feel. I do hope that everyone involved finds peace.

This is a driver's worst nightmare in my opinion. Thoughts go out to him and the family of the boy. I don't know what the parking situation was that made our driver decide to back. I always count kids when I come up to a stop and I try my best to keep an eye on all of them.

The cops haven't charged the driver yet and it sounds like they are treating it like a terrible tragedy. I can't imagine how horrible that driver feels about it.
