The Appalachian Basin is the oldest and longest producing commercially viable petroleum-producing basin in the United States.
The region extends from Alabama to Maine
Massachusetts has the only LNG import terminals in New England, one at Everett and two offshore in Massachusetts Bay.
The LNG shipments come from Trinidad and Tobago in the Caribbean. ( some 2300 miles away )
Why not from a source only a few hundred miles away ?

The Merchant Marine Act of 1920, known as the Jones Act, is a federal statute establishing support for the development and maintenance of a merchant marine in order to support commercial activity (See 46 USC § 50101). The statute requires shipping between US ports to be conducted by US-flag ships.
And to ensure the ongoing business to support our inter-coastal shipping capacity and maintain a market for U.S. industrial shipyard infrastructure to build, repair, and overhaul U.S. vessels.
100 years later; No US Shipyards build any LNG Tankers.
Thus no LNG shipments can be made from one US Port to another.

Lack of pipelines from the Appalachian Basin.
I wonder if those who protested the creation of new pipelines are happy as our seniors and families freeze during the winter months.
