The name of this guy Mr. Teacher from the video is Ron Gochez. Some claim he’s a teacher from UCLA; others claim he’s a high school teacher. The ones who claim he’s a high school teacher are right. If I’m not wrong he’s a SanteeHigh School teacher. By his own words on the video he says he’s a militant of “Union del Barrio,” which is translated to something like “The Ghetto United” or “The Ghetto’s Union” or “The Union of the Ghetto.” To me it sounds like a gang, but if it’s an organization, it’s not that credible, if their views are like the ones this guy stated on this video. At the beginning of the video it says “Rally at UCLA, in Defense of La Raza!!!!” Now, Cowboy, not even the video states that this is supported by NCLR, just because it says “La Raza” that doesn’t make it NCLR to have the same views as this guy. The term “La Raza” is not a racist remark. If you investigate further and google it or ask any Hispanic friends, if you have any, they’ll explain that to you. Here’s a link from Wikipedia so you can read more about it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Columbus_Day

If you can understand what’s in there, and if you got any Hispanic friends who can explain it to you, you’ll see that this is not as a segregated “race” word, as it seems you think. It’s not like saying “The Whites” or “The Blacks” or “The Browns” which would be racial remarks. May be Ron Gochez, gangs, and you, had misused the term “La Raza.” But, don’t think that the National Council of La Raza is a racist organization because it cites the terms “La Raza.” As a Spanish speaker, I can tell you that “La Raza” is mostly used as “The People,” any people. It doesn’t reference any particular group of race. When Ron Gochez said “Viva La Raza” at the end of the video, he never cited NCLR. He would be translated as saying: “Long Live the People.” Now, if you’re taking it from this guy, anyone would know that he’s just citing his supporters. If you’re taking it from a gang, anyone would know that the gang is citing its members. If NCLR says “Viva La Raza” they’re saying “Long Live the People.” And as I have read, NCLR is a well established organization, so anyone would know that they’re citing The People, any people. I won’t say all the people, because I don’t think they would be citing Rusell Pearce or Tom Tancredo or Anna Gaines. Now, I gave you my opinion about this guy Gochez, what do you think of Rusell Pearce, a top political official, and his involvement with Nazi groups?
