Harry Reid is trying to squeeze this act through before the November elections.... About the DREAM Act Every time the pro-Amnesty forces fail at pushing through a total mass Amnesty, they've fallen back to some version of an Amnesty for illegal alien youths. It goes by the attractive name of the "DREAM Act." This title is very misleading. More than 2 MILLION illegal aliens would qualify. What they would receive is a path to full citizenship, welfare benefits, in-state tuition, and the right to sponsor large numbers of their family members for citizenship. Who are these "youth?"In the Senate DREAM bill, illegal aliens up through age 35 qualify! In the House bill there is no age limit at all. These "young" illegal aliens would only need to claim (not prove) that they meet the criteria and meet at least the minimum of taking a a one-year vocational program to get on the path to citizenship. And there is NO REQUIREMENT that the person actually COMPLETES their education!
