Sorry, was away this weekend but wanted to add a few thoughts. I know you want this under the rug but bear with me. FWIW, I am on your side and i'm not trying to be a pita....but some questions were raised again and since it was fresh here again I wanted to ask away...mainly for our awareness and education...where applicable. How can it pick up certain movements if it's disabled? Also, wasn't there some talk about drivers covering the lens and UPS receiving a messages that the 'sensor" was blocked" IR is a light we cannot see, it's not a radar of sort. I agree Are you 100% certain UPS does not have access to a well-documented feature of the Lytx drive cam? the devices in our vehicles have the ability to send live camera feeds, that's all over their website. Why would UPS ignore this feature? Is it becasue our contract stated...... NMUPSA ARTICLE 6. Section 6. Technology and Discipline Vehicles may not be equipped with inward-facing cameras. Forward-facing capability of cameras shall not be used for discipline. That round lens is a 'camera" so where are we now? How did it get installed in our vehicles based on the agreement? I believe UPS will use the term 'sensor" to hide the fact it's a camera. Disabled? How? It's used for the Lytx Ai to determine certain movements. The infrared is a row of IR lights at the bottom of the Lytx drivecam that you cannot see. The IR is used for low light and the camera is used for AI to determine movement...unless this is proven otherwise it deson't make sense that the "IR" is what tracks you...it's a light that you cannot see. Here's what's inside. 4 IR lights on each side hidden from view, camera in middle, with 7 warning LED's underneath. I also feel UPS has a slight delay from the third party to "scrub" the internal camera feed...just a wild theory. A digital camera uses a "sensor" behind the lens....ALL digital camera devices do. It doesn't need to "record", but it can watch and this can be viewed remotely, just like the forward facing camera. Did UPS convey all info about telematics when it was first implemented? Nope. Why would they tell the drivers they are looking for backing and speed and seatbelt use and not tell them they can monitor steering wheel angle, throttle position, speed, RPM, they know if you are spinning tires, lane position, etc...why should they right? As well as a spreadsheet for your time at stop, time before opening door, time bulkhead door is open, time before drive away after bulkhead door is closed...you name it, there's a report for it. So my question is, if the contract boldly states no inward facing cameras, why is there an inward facing camera? UPS could have done all they needed with a front camera to prove/disprove what they need to. They used Lytx to monitor the driver to answer the remaining questions of what wa actually going on, and they had Lytx draw up a paper stating the "RECORDING" capability has been removed...but not the 'monitoring" I just don't see how this can be any other way. I also hear you when you say it's not used for discipline and has not been...I believe you. All this came to fruition when a coworker and I were chatting about him getting the camera and it' would be facing the sleeper birth. Which iirc, bedrooms, bathrooms, dressing rooms, ie, "areas of privacy" were off limits in any hidden camera scenario.
