My center manager demanded he come check my temperature when I called out sick. Odd part is when he showed up at my house he only brought a rectal thermometer. Anywho I was granted the day.

He didn’t check your temperature with the thermometer, did he?

What’s the worst that can happen if you call in sick 2 days in a row with sick days? What happens if a lot of people call in?

Dude we got ppl that don’t show up for the preload without even calling in, then show up a few days later and act like nothing happened and they just let them work due to the turnover.

I am sure the new $13/hr starting wage will solve that problem. They will be standing in line hoping to be selected for a PT minimum wage no benefits job that starts at 4:30 in the morning for 4 hours.

Try $15, $3 over the regional minimum wage.
Turnout is still bad: but the wage increase actually increases the pool to a slower, safer demographic than the majority drug-addicts we got during peak. Turns out people who would turn down a job that pays less than $15 also are not eager to kill themselves.
Post-wage increase, our injuries have gone way down, 1 in 6 months in a large building vs several at peak just before the wage increase.

Personal experience. If you dont completley suck at your job and show effort, calling in isnt a big deal honestly. I had a bad habit of calling in once or twice a week 2 years ago. You think thats bad? We had guys that would show up once a week with nothing done to them. Most likely an under the table aggrement with management. Who knows. Like a previous reply the turnover is that bad that they will take anyone who walks in the building. I by no means apporve of calling out when you dont have an actual reason because it is a job you signed up for, but its the honest truth from what ive personally seen. At least at my hub that is. Youre pretty much guranteed a job if you dont fight people, dont steal (property/time) and dont commit job abandonment. (No call no show for 3 days in a row or leaving your shift without permission from a supervior). Theres also refusing to work as directed which i havent seen much but it has happened. And even then people still got their jobs back.

You call and say your name and I won’t be in. I’m sick or if you’re doing something else you just say personal then immediately hang up the phone while they’re still talking.

I dont think they can do anything for 2 days if you call in. It kind of depends how much your full time supervisor likes you. If your full timer likes you he will let you get away with more.

Depends on what state you live in and the contract language. I live in California which provides legally protected sick leave to its many wage slaves.
