Message: <blockquote data-quote="vantexan" data-source="post: 6133010" data-attributes="member: 24302"><p>You are way oversimplifying what happened.  The Greek government voted for a bailout which Varoufakis said would further worsen Greece's economic problems and he resigned over it.  The troika's bailout was to keep members of the troika from having to eat Greece's debt.  By doing what they did they limited the bank crisis to just Greece instead of causing a worldwide contagion.  Did it cause the Greeks to suffer due to austerity measures?  Yes.  But Greece brought all of this on themselves by taking out huge loans to pay for extremely generous benefits for Greek citizens.  Loans that they did not have the money to pay back.  The responsibility lies squarely on the Greek government, no one else.</p></blockquote><p></p>
