MAGA supporters like Laura Loomer and Steve Bannon have come out attacking Musk and Ramaswamy, saying they are doing this to get cheap labor, and H-1b immigrants are “indentured servants” who will be deported if they lose their job, so they work for less and put up with more. They say this is not “America first”. Musk has since taken away their verifications on Twitter after speaking out against him.

I heard the opposite, that they're saying the program needs to be reformed. Will be interesting to see if the people on the Left who are for millions being allowed in illegally will stand up for or stand against the program.

I was reading posts from Vivek saying that American workers just don’t have the necessary traits to do the job correctly.

I don’t have a problem with immigrants, that’s what this country was founded on, and there are tons of extremely smart people over seas that could do great work here. The problem is when we bring them in to undercut American labor and have them do work for less pay and less protections, which you bring up a good point of if people on the left will be supportive of this or not, since a lot of arguments for undocumented labor now is they do jobs for cheaper, that Americans won’t do, and deporting them would raise prices, but that idea in itself can be a form of racism and abused by corporations

When I read about entire school systems like Baltimore's where not one.student was proficient at math when tested I have to think he's got a point. But no one likes our failings to be pointed out.

This really isn’t super hard to figure out. Our immigration system has always been set up to let people in who actually help the country.. yes, it is to our advantage and It should be. Letting people in that way down are already crippled social system isn’t a great idea. And also is not a reason to allow people just cross the border. And I would agree that our value system is backwards now. Most Americans are interested in how they look to other people more than anything. To a vast Majority of them they wouldn’t even want to do a job like delivery to make 100 K plus benefits because it’s not sexy enough.

Even in our legal immigration system many who get in are just relatives of previous immigrants. The H-1b visa was specifically designed to get in needed engineers and others to help the big tech companies. If there's enough American engineers to do the work and are capable but are being displaced by the cheaper labor foreigners then end the program. The Indians are being sought because they have universities that put ours to shame. If we don't bring them here then will at some point India lead the world in technological innovation?
