I was interested in Georgia, and while there got to considering moving on to former Silk Road areas. Found a great studio on Airbnb in Almaty, Kazakhstan for $200 a month so using Skyscanner found flights from Tbilisi, Georgia to there. After a month really wanted to go to Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan next door. Literally took a shared cab close to three hours to get to Kyrgyzstan border. Stayed at hotel in Bishkek where I met said beautiful girl. Absolutely amazing person. Went on to Karakol then to Osh. Came back to Bishkek and flew to the U.A.E. from there to Ukraine for a month then on to Sweden, Iceland, and home. Was gone 7 months. My wife let me go as long as I made the car payment. The only time I worried about my safety was in Osh, Kyrgyzstan. A lot more serious Muslim adherents there and while there a bunch of international cyclists, some American, got run over and knifed to death by al-Qaeda fanatics in Tajikistan about 200 miles from where I was. But most people there treated me great. Have no desire to go to North Korea or other risky places like some do. I wouldn't visit Russia either just because as an American I might be falsely arrested to use as a pawn. But most places are fine. Giving serious consideration to moving to Cambodia when my dad passes.
