Message: <blockquote data-quote="vantexan" data-source="post: 5384247" data-attributes="member: 24302"><p>So that is their opinion.  But having payments suspended for a period isn't the same as eliminating the debt.  Yes, according to that 2003 legislation (?) they can eliminate it in an emergency.  Where's the emergency?  People have returned to work.  And eliminating the debt of a certain class doesn't help the millions who paid off their college debt, or who never went to college but have debts.  This is targeting a specific group of voters before the midterms, nothing more.  And Pelosi herself said forgiving the debt was the responsibility of the House, which controls the purse strings.  Not the executive branch.  Was she wrong?</p></blockquote><p></p>
