Besides being old, this sounds very pro-China (did they fund this? or was it the railroad?). Of course China would share their technology with us freely if we shared ours with them. These projects would cost trillions of dollars to complete. Who's paying for this? Don't get me wrong the idea is terrific, but a country already in massive debt isn't going to put money forth to build a rail line between east and west Africa.

All we need to do is nationalize their assets.

That's all well and good but, regardless of the intent, I could see this taking a wrong turn and the government getting out of control.
