Your timeline is off. When they were freed the segregation went on in the South for close to 100 years. But many blacks went north and got jobs. Made good money in the auto industry for example. The point is that over time society.integrated to the point now that young black men are dating and marrying young white women without getting lynched. People have learned to live and let live. At what point do you continue to punish whites today for what their ancestors did? Especially considering the ancestors of many whites didn't arrive until decades after the Civil War. Forcing companies to hire on the basis of skin color is reverse discrimination. If a black man or woman is the most qualified then they should be hired. To hire them over all over races in spite of much more qualified people of other races applying is to force mediocrity and in some cases, like air traffic controllers or pilots, it can be extremely dangerous. If blacks or other races want those positions then let them get the training and experience that qualifies them for a position. Same goes with punishing kids who worked extremely hard in high school to excel and are passed over in Ivy League schools in favor of blacks with C averages. Has happened quite a bit. Called equity. And the group punished most tend to be Asian American kids whose parents prioritize study and good grades. All DEI is doing is garnering votes by laying guilt trips for past sins. And causes more problems than it solves.
