I went on a cruise about 55 years ago and we stopped at a port called Cap Haitian one day. The military was standing on the corners with Colt 45's to protect tourist. The gutters were open sewers, people would wipe their butts with orange peels. We were told not to drink or eat anything in port. This little kid ran up and tried to snatch a camera out of my hand. One half of the island looks like a tropical paradise, the other end doesn't. And it is still like that to this day. I have never understood why the Haitians can't plant enough crops or run resorts to help themselves.</p></blockquote><p></p>
