My college roommate and I hooked last year after 40 years. Met in Denver and drove over 6,000 miles in 2 weeks. It's unbelievable out there. We did a bunch of hikes everywhere. Lot of miles, lotta walking.  Bear spray was our friend. Never seen any but plenty of sign. We regretted not wettin' a line.So, we're catchin' Brookies in east Tennessee this past spring and before we know it's gettin' dusk. Time to head back. There he is. 250-300 lb. black bear in a tree watching us go by. No spray. Remember now...don't run, face him, look bigger than you, etc.That thing dropped about 15 ft out of that tree, and both of us took off running and screaming. I never looked back but I was waitin' for the teeth and claws. Yep, my pal was ahead of me.</blockquote>
