.....I worked 4hrs last Monday on the local sort...and was told I had NO problem coming in and working.
Today, no check and center manager is on vacation. Was told over and over it was cool for me to work.
Local sort boss asked me personally to work that night. I'm a little pist.
Anybody have ideas.... ? And sarcastic answers aren't welcome. Ty

On a serious note. If it isn't too much hassle to drive to and from work if they send you home early, just show up. Harder for them to turn away a worker that is there, in person, ready to work.

If a FT cover driver at my center asks pre-PCM who wants to go home , they'll get no fewer than 3 key FOBs tossed their way.

Not sure why a "casual" would expect to drive at all this time of year anyway. Isn't that an off street seasonal hire who doesn't have permanent PT/FT status? No right to get their hours working PT sorts? Would be called a RTD/TCD where I am, and they can only be used between June 5 and January 15. Permanent PT employees included. And they get first dibs on any available seasonal driving work during that period.

Think he was talking about working inside the center as a handler. All the recent staffing cutbacks.

I worked 4hrs last Monday on the local sort

He doesn't check your employment status, he just needs a body.

And you don't need a center manager to check with payroll whether or not they issued you a check. Have a sup email payroll, and you will have your answer usually the same day.

Nobody should ever be in possession of a key fob at a morning pcm.

Exactly. Before I got my bid route drivers would go home after the PCM and I would cover there route. They'd hand me the key fob and diad. I'd go to enter miles when I was leaving and they had already did it before the PCM. SMDH

It's little things like this that undermine our contract and help the company eliminate routes.

Article 17 of the master. Talk to your steward
Other
shortages involving more than forty ($40.00) dollars for full-time
employees, and twenty ($20.00) dollars for part-time employees, will
be corrected and the payment will be made available to the employ-
ee at his/her reporting location on his/her second scheduled workday
after reporting the shortage. If the Employer fails to make the pay-
ment available on the employee’s second scheduled workday and the
shortage was the result of the Employer’s error, the employee will be
paid an additional amount equal to one-half (1/2) of his/her daily
guarantee at his/her regular hourly rate for every full pay period in
which the shortage is not paid after the second (2nd) scheduled work
day, until corrected

I'm into distribution!!
We've had that problem in the past. It's always been confusion about who is being charged for your time. The hub was supposed to be taking our hours but feeders was being charged for them.

Talk to the local sort person and see if he entered your hours. In the future view your time card online before the end of the week to make sure the hours are in there.

We are allowed to go to our pkg car before the PCM to ensure that we are ready to go once the PCM is over. This includes putting the key fob on to our belt loop.
That would be a violation of article 17 and if the company is requiring you to do so article 6 as well. Both in the UPSNMA. Doing anything for the company while not on the clock should never happen. I would never expect you to understand this though.
