[QUOTE="Doublestandards, post: 6049192, member: 110123"] I’ll come in with my opinion that will probably annoy both sides, but that seems to often be the case with me I’m libertarian at heart and don’t give a single crap if an adult chops their member off Surgeries for children should be off the table. Shouldn’t be allowed unless for medical reasons that is affecting the health Im open to hearing more about the science of puberty blockers, and the long term effects of them and if they truly are reversible, but I think instead we should be teaching kids, and their peers, to love the body they were given. I’m not saying they can’t or shouldn’t dress it up however they want, but I do think the left is moving away from body positivity as it started. I can truly sympathize with a trans girl growing up and hitting puberty and looking more like a man, and the insecurities that could cause, that must SUCK. I can see how puberty blockers and surgery would be so tempting to help you look the way you feel. But I feel this is dangerous for multiple reasons What about straight females who genetically look more “manly”? There are lots of women who are naturally more big boned, with stronger facial features. Are we saying they aren’t a woman because they don’t look like a playmate? Should they be getting surgeries and medication also? What are we telling them by saying trans people need to get surgeries to look more “female”? Where does it stop? If it was more easily accessible, what percentage of teenage boys would be getting surgeries or medication to add a couple inches to their dingalings? I’d venture to guess 80-90% lol, but what long term effects does that cause? The brain isn’t fully developed until after 25 and teenagers aren’t good at weighing risk and reward and thinking long term I disagree with most of this site that being gay is a choice. I don’t think it is, and I don’t think being trans is either. I think we should let adults do what they want, we should let kids be kids, and we should be doing a better job of teaching kids that even if their body is a little different, it’s ok, and it’s their mind and personality and what they contribute to the world that matters the most.
