What you dont get is that this local has always been a reform local, excluding the dreary 10 years of the old guard Redmond crew (1998-2009). From 1968 until 1998, Ron Carey was the poster boy for reform. Though he never joined TDU, he was a supporter of the group and they were a big supporter of him. You speak of "TDU ideas": rank and file empowerment and involvement...reducing officer salaries and perks...mobilizing the membership to demand stronger contracts...ending business unionism and go along to get along policies...holding management's feet to the fire. These are ideas TDU stands for. They are also ideas Ron Carey stood for. Old guard forces also called Ron Carey a "renegade" in the 1970s. That renegade went on to become our first IBT President. "Suspensions were rarer 5-10 years ago"?? What world do you live in?? When our current E/B took over they inherited a huge back log of hundreds of discharges and suspensions from Redmond's crew. Now you are saying that the initial driver that was fired was "dead wrong". That is a typical blame the victim answer by a political hack who only wants to embarass or destroy the E/B because his boys lost the last 2 local elections. Get over it!!
