Just curious... a friend of mine "lost" his diad and couldn't find it... and it was never recovered. Another buddy dropped his out of his truck on the freeway and managed to recover it, dinged and scratched but still working... There's gotta be other stories out there... share with us

Back when we were on DIAD 1, I know a driver who left his laying on his rear step bumper at a stop. He pulled down his rear door, and started backing. It fell off and he ran over it himself. I bet that was a tough phone call to make to the Center Manager..............:crying:

I wouldn't want to be the one that had to make that call:blushing: The driver was probably charged with an avoidable accident also, correct?

We had a driver sorting his car in a parking lot when he remembered he left his DIAD in the mens room.....

......unfortunately the building had closed for the night!

Only DIAD that I ever heard of being lost was by one of our driver sups. Left it on his bumper. Serves him right for doing union work. No he didn't get fired but he sure took alot of heat from the drivers when they found out about it.

I was carrying two boxes to the 3rd floor of an apartment complex. I tripped up the last set of steps and the packages and the DIAD4 went flying. The DIAD slid between the steps and fell 3 stories down to the ground. It didn't crack it but the display went all white and wouldn't work. I think the DIAD functions worked but you couldn't see what it was doing. I had to wait 1 hour for a new one to be brought out to me. I figured I would be in trouble but nothing was ever said to me.

I know one driver in our center that lost his DIAD on I-85 by the hub. He retraced his steps and found it in between the lanes and the exit ramp to our hub. I'm guessing it was run over many times and finally came to rest in the emergency lane. It still worked! Gotta love those DIAD3's!

Big show in Atlanta at the Gift Mart , we were delivering at nite with keys to showrooms- a driver was bringing a white postal tote box full of Diad's down and the whole damn box flew outta his truck on the big curve from I-20 to the I-75/85 interchange , he came on down to the mart without the boards and was taken back with a sup to retrieve the boards all were recovered but about 3-4 were out of service.... only thing that saved his ass was the ass he kissed.....BC

There was a part time sup that was trying to qualify as a driver back when we had Diad 1. No diad pouch or hook back then, he was coming off a curb with hand cart full of packages and lost the load and the diad that slid into the traffic lane and was run over by 3 tractor trailers & a garbage truck. he was promoted to full time sup the next week!

we had a driver who was delivering to bulk stop where he was backed down into a dock. I guess he left the DIAD on the roof of the package car then took off down the road. I heard the board survived.

Driver here delivered a large bulk stop-realized his DIAD lll was gone at his next stop. Customer found it in the highway and he had to drive 25 miles round trip to pick it up at the customer's home!

Remember folks, :censored2: happens!!
I dropped mine ONCE, I was getting out the back and when I pulled it down off the shelf, it sliiped out of my hand and slid right into the path of a dump truck driving through the parking lot. It was crushed, the screen was cracked, and it still kinda worked. I never heard a word, got a different one next day. Accidents happen. I didnt do it on purpose.

I had a Diad 1 die on me,many will remember how prone to crashing they were, about 10 stops into a long rainy day. Somehow the Diad accidentaly flew out of my hand, from the front res yard I was in,all the way across the street and into the side of my package car. At the end of the day I turned it in for a new one along with my dripping delivery sheets. Had a UPS beeper die in the same fashion after going of one too many times one day. Man.I was so clumsy back then.:confused:1

I forgot to retrieve the diad off the rear bumper a couple times. Once I drove back to the street to find it still laying there, and another time the diad was still on the bumper leaning against the truck.
