I know UPS has several of these engines in their fleet. My question is do you like the way they drive and take off from a stop? The 1 I drive has good power after a 2 to 4 second delay from being on the gas peddle, moves slow at first then the turbo winds up and it takes off with good power. Is it normal for this delay in the ones you guys drive? Thanks.

The Mercedes 904 four-cylinder 904 turbo model is a slow engine. Its a 4.3 liter/173 HP engine that has the same cubic inches and horsepower that my Chevy S-10 has. Instead of counting 1-2-3 before pulling out in traffic, you might as well count to ten before it gets going.

I say do away with all the diesels, they are not meant whatsoever to be started and stopped so much like we do delivering. Not to mention the motor will not warm up to get heater in winter.

Gas: freightliner, workhorse, for the WIN!

The autostart feature GM has recently added to the Cruze is composed pretty much of just software. All the hardware is already there.
