off the street casual driver -question about health insurance

Should have asked this question to the HR person i've been dealing with in hindsight, but could somebody tell me what happens if you get injured on the job with no insurance? are you pretty much screwed? is there any compensation at all?
This is a scary proposition to me if something happens to me during work. if you started out in a similar situation, how did you deal with it?

You can file a suit as well. Get a workman's comp attorney if you want to go that route.
