But this can likely be explained by the fact that Kenya was a colony of the United Kingdom until 1963. </p><p>Curiously, on an Aug. 17, 1962, application to extend his visa, Obama Sr. filled in a line asking him to list the names and addresses of children. The only child he listed was Roy Obama, a son from his Kenyan wife, Kezia. At that time, Barack Obama Jr. was 1 year old. </p><p>On that application he also listed his mailing address as c/o the Koinoinia Foundation in Pikesville, Md.
