Message: <blockquote data-quote="bacha29" data-source="post: 5201410" data-attributes="member: 58386"><p>There's 9000 approved permits sitting on the desk at DOE and have been there for months waiting for the oil companies who filed for them to come and get them.  In addition there's 20 million acres of federal land leased to oil companies but are not being drilled. So why do they do that? Often it's simply to keep somebody else from getting them. Oh and BTW royalties paid for oil extracted from public lands is only a  one eighth share .  Private landowners can negotiate for more while the public royalty has remained the same for many years.</p></blockquote><p></p>
