This effort was the so called "Truth Tour" which was run by the right wing public relations firm Russo Marsh and Rogers. It was a spin campaign designed to "go around" the "liberal" media and deliver the "good news" about the Iraq war. Various right wing talkers were flown to Iraq, parties in the Green Zone and did remotes broadcasting Bush administration talking points to their red state audiences. It was propoganda in its purest form. And it was orchestrated by a public relations firm with deep ties to the Republican leadership. Russo Marsh and Rogers also ran the recall campaign against California governor Grey Davis. The checks for that campaign largely came from, the burglar alarm fortune of Daryll Issa, who expected to be rewarded for his efforts with the Governor's mansion. Alas, the GOP didn't trust Issa any more than they do now!</em></p><p><em></em></p><p><em>Now, Scottie Hughes is the news director and chief journalist for the Tea Party News Network, which is the media arm of a group called Tea Party.net. </em></p><p><em></em></p><p><em>TeaParty.net is a fundraising fraud. It gins up fake controversies and uses these in order to raise money off of gullible conservatives. Only about 5% of the money it raises goes to supporting candidates or to real political work. The rest goes into "administrative expenses" (bar tabs, limo rides, etc), and to the pockets of consultants like Russo Marsh, and into the pockets of right wing blogs like NewsMax, WND, and Breitbart.
