Given the current state of political affairs in the country, it will undoubtedly stir controversy. Last year's SOTU was the subject of various online rumors and conspiracy theories, including the claim (furthered by Trump himself) that Google failed to promote the speech to its search-engine customers. We determined that claim to be false. Another rumor held that a Democratic congressman "stormed out" of the address three minutes before it ended. We found that to be mostly false. It was also alleged, after the speech, that the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) issued a statement "complaining" that the President said "America" too many times during the speech. But the ACLU lodged no such complaint. Tonight's State of the Union address begins at 9 PM (EST) and will be widely televised.
