Started in the early 60's (1962?) before UPS became a nation wide or world wide delivery service. UPS argued that there was not enough sorting and loading work for a FT employee with the different transit times. If the Teamster would allow PT employees they would pay the same as FT and the Union would collect the same dues from more Union members. I started in 1977 and except for Peak working PT was an excellent job. Weekends and Holidays off and great pay compared to other PT jobs. 50lb weight limit and very few irregs. FT pay was comparable to other Union jobs and sometimes a driver would quit to take another Union job with less OT and stress. The job was nothing like today with 200 stops being a normal day and moving furniture up to 150lbs.</p></blockquote><p></p>
