Wow, so much to comment on, everyone makes valid points. There is something different about this generation I judge. As a steward, I have never seen such a lack of professionalism and work ethic. Young people with no call no shows, or just working 1-2 days a week. It’s not just PT, but FT youngsters as well. Again, we allow this and by not addressing issues at work and letting it happen at home. The sell on a college education has been a disservice to our youth. Kids are in massive amounts of debt for a degree that’s not worth it. A semester at Southeastern when I went cost $1700 for 12+ classes. Today, it cost $1700 for each 3 credit class. I’d rather the government subsidize people working, giving them a hand and help while limiting the amount we give to those who aren’t doing a damn thing even though they are able to work. We need to fix PT insurance and reward longtime PT’s with better pay. Waiting 9 months for their health insurance to kick in was a cave by prior administration. We also need to get back to recruiting in college campuses again and hopefully with new hourly rate, we can be a little more selective in hiring. I’m fine with COLA as long as it’s across the board and not area specific. I don’t want extra subsidies going to high tax states. I understand it cost more to live there, but adding more taxable income isn’t the solution. Vote for people who will lower government spending, not increase it.
