I have been thinking about this for years but this year it seems more appropriate to bring it up. The Democrat base platform has alway evolved. Sometimes for the good, sometimes not. Recently it seems that the Democrat platform is increasingly and forcefully incorporating SOME socialist ideals. More and more young people want outright Socialism and Communism. I’ve heard Candidates for office outright say free markets need to be pushed aside for Democratic Socialism and Government control (controlled by the people) of our nations companies and resources. I don’t understand why our Union doesn’t push back on this? It’s obvious to me that with these types of actions taken (I hope they never are) that our Union will be, by necessity, disbanded. With Democratic Socialism and Govt control, even if it’s by the people, our Union will have no one to negotiate with. Plus our jobs and pay will be in jeopardy. After all, within Democratic Socialism, the greater good of the people will either take twice the amount of taxes from us or drop our pay rate substantially so the profits of the company can be added to the Nations Treasury. I am increasingly worried with the media pushing these type of Candidates on us and our Union staying silent. The end game means we get screwed. Will someone please explain to me why our Union is endorsing some of these people and won’t push back on their bad ideas? I get they do support us now with labor rights and workers rights but if in the end they will devour us, why stay quiet about that for any short term gain?

You know full well that doesn't make us a socialist system. We're a capitalist society with social welfare and entitlements programs. Socialism is the government controlling the means of production along with heavy taxation and wealth redistribution.

You can always tell the young ones. Believe it or not when I was growing up a hundred years ago the word on the street was that SS would go bankrupt by the 80's. Medicare is NOT a joke. I shutter to think how many people would be homeless if there was no Medicare to pay 80% of their later on in life medical bills.

You seem unaware that healthcare sucks in most of these countries that have single payer. You're "covered" but only when you can actually see the doctor. Many procedures take years to get when it would take a week or two in the US. In most cases we also have the highest expertise and technology. Which is why VIP's from around the world leave their country and have procedures done in the US.

I've had EXCELLANT VA care. I also doctor with our local health clinic just to keep my options open and I prefer the VA experience anytime. I've NEVER had to wait longer than 15 minutes of any scheduled appt. time.
