Alabama isn't SEC because Saban is gone? Why would I think that? Alabama was wildly inconsistent this year. Exposed? SMU wasn't exposed? Indiana? They both got in with good records because most of the teams they beat weren't good at all, padding their records. Who did Boise State beat going 12-1? Only ranked opponent they beat was UNLV. This new playoff definitely has flaws. Just play the top 16 teams, period. Quality usually drops off after the 12th or 13th ranked team. Doesn't mean a lesser team can't rise up and play its heart out and upset.a better team. But usually that same team after knocking off a top team will turn around and lose to a nobody. Look at Northern Illinois over Notre Dame then look at the rest of NIU's schedule. You can only go by wins and losses, strength of schedule, bowl wins when comparing conferences. An impartial observer would have to conclude the SEC is the top football conference just looking at all of that from the year 2000 to now. At one point this season the SEC had 6 teams in the top 7. Most ended up with lower rankings because they beat up each other, not because they were losing to teams outside the conference. How many national titles have non-SEC teams won since 2000? I already
