Teamster Buyout?

And she is making the union look like an antiquated dinosaur quack in its response. No win situation for the union with this one. Damned if you do damned if don’t!
Yep, that’s why Sean’s video conference the other night was so cringe worthy. All he could do was ask Union members not to take it and try to make them feel like idiots for doing so. He understands his tools are limited, and his timeframe is very small.

Thankfully, this offer is so weak. I don’t really believe it will really have an impact. What happens after this offer is what we have a bigger impact. Can the Union successfully get a decision that these buyouts are not contractual and put a stop to any future ones that they haven’t negotiated?

Which is why in a no win situation less was best. Deliberate inaction. They need to use some of the union dues to get some outside consultation on PR etiquette!

I’m not convinced that the company is going to play this card again. It won’t matter. Made the union look weaker then it should have looked, because of how it responded, and it was just another piece of the pie in attempting its goal in reconfiguring the company.

That is possible, but I think most people don’t really understand anymore the international has limited ability.. It’s always been more about your local and even more about the membership’s solidarity with one another.

The local can do a lot as long as it doesn't violate the national contract. Supplements vary widely.

What’s to say this isn’t the only buyout offer the company offers. What if you take the $1800 offer then the company is like enough didn’t take it let’s offer a little more money and see if anyone takes it. So you get screwed by taking the 1st offer and the Union doesn’t have to help because you chose to leave.

Risks are built into life.

Why didn't we get the same offer as the pilots?
Why wasn't there buyout illegal?

If you view this as an egregious violation of the contract, their breach might justify a legal strike.

Nobody wants that but this is a dangerous path to head down.

I wouldn’t say nobody wants it. Although I don’t think it would have very good optics. And I’m not even sure if it would be supported by everyone.
