Three people were killed, including the gunman, in a shooting on Tuesday at a United Parcel Service Inc facility in Alabama, police said.

Officers found the victims, including one person believed to be the shooter, who had died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, Birmingham Police Chief A.C. Roper told reporters.

The motive was not immediately known, Roper said, adding that the shooter was wearing a UPS employee uniform.

Atlanta-based UPS said in a brief statement that the shooting happened around 9:40 a.m. local time.
The Birmingham News reported that the gunman is dead. The paper described the man as a white male in his 40s. Edwards says the gunman was an employee of the company.
