Most of you know where I sit politically. I was at a neighbors graduation party yesterday when this occurred. Easy to say 95 percent of the attendees were Trump Supporters. A few things to get off my chest: - I thought Trumps reaction to this was amazing. I always support the nations decision to whoever our president (or former) president is through the democratic process of election. It took my mind back to when Bush came out at Yankee Stadium and threw a strike after 911. This is a historic moment that we cannot even comprehend the effect of. - I sat in a room full of Trump Supporters, (who by the way I do not hate, these people are my neighbors, friends & countrymen). They know that I’m a Democrat and still invite me into their home…. Point being I couldn’t stop thinking that whoever tried to shoot Trump was not a Democrat, most of you call them deranged leftist woke libs, but he is not that either. It is someone who doesn’t beleive in our country or it’s processes. A terrorist. Why the need to escalate and call names on both sides, this is an individual, acting alone, and to attach what they did to an entire political party is ridiculous. - On my walk from the party, I couldn’t help thinking how glad I was that this idiot missed. Didn’t yet know that he killed an innocent bystander. I couldn’t help thinking that our country is so broken with unfounded hate, how will it ever get fixed? I felt unsafe walking home in a semi rural setting because some nut job just attempted this assassination. If he had killed him, I’m not sure we wouldn’t be talking about the beginnings of a civil war today. (And we aren’t out of the woods). There are nut jobs on both sides, always have been, always will. I pray that our country can start to take a step back, not believe every social media instantaneous (and often false) post, and start to have compassion for each other. I feel bad for the people who had to witness this in person. Sorry for the rant, but please stop attacking each other, it’s getting old and some weak minded fools are starting to believe the rhetoric that comes from both sides.
