One word as to why they want the contractor model-unions. Or more specifically, no unions under that contractor model. See back in the 80s Federal Express was a great place to work and topped people out in a matter of months to just a couple of years. Then in the early 90s someone at Federal Express figured out that they don't need to worry about anyone unionizing because of the RLA. So from that point on renamed FedEx decided all their employees could go pound sand when it comes to raises. Fast forward to when FedEx Ground came to be. Rather than combing Ground and Express packages together like how UPS does (for efficiency purposes) they decided instead to separate the companies (to prevent unionizing). Moreover, they decided to use a contractor model so Ground can't unionize on their own. Now Express is trying to skirt around combining companies and unionizing with their "last mile optimization" BS. Basically Express is sending a lot of their packages to Ground to have them deliver for them. And as far as Amazon goes, they are/were owned by that leftist Bezos who should be pro-union since that's a leftist support point, but since it doesn't benefit him or Amazon, he's all against it too. As far as any of these Democrat politicians go, they would be just like Bezos. Like Biden always talking about good paying union jobs. I can guarantee you if Biden owned a factory, he'd be one of the biggest anti-union owners out there-just like Bezos or Smith. Anyway, since a union would benefit me and hundreds of thousands of people at Express, I'd vote yes for a union. I like the idea of topping out in 5 years as opposed to FedEx's current "go pound sand" business model of 20+ yrs to topping out.
