Hadn't seen the Matt video prior to this. The glaring concession that I get from him is the issue of 22.4s taking work that would ordinarily be done on Monday by RPCDs. Matt brings up at 7:50 "when work is available" and says "I don't know what that is supposed to mean." EXACTLY!! That is the problem. It is not clearly defined and will be exploited. Fix it, don't just say "whatever" and move on. Then it gets worse IMO. He says the NorCal supplement addresses this by allowing a RPCD to displace 2 part timers at drivers rate should they not have work on Monday. Or....they can bump into Saturday. Well, now aren't we back to where we started, RPCDs driving on weekends? That was what 22.4 was supposed to eliminate, right? So now we have RPCDs working weekends, and we allowed a 2nd class driver position in at $6 less. That is nothing but a concession! The other option, bump 2 part timers...now you've turned my full time driving job into a quasi-part-time/full-time position in order to give my work to what was previously a part timer? What the hell is that? His continuous use of the phrase "I don't have a problem with that" just plain bothers me. He is saying plain and simple, this particular issue doesn't really affect me, so not my problem. Oh, and Matt's parting note, UPS always has, and always will harrass you. We're not even going to bother trying to fix that. SMH!
