The founding trailblazer – UPS

Inspiring UPSers to be the change we want to see

How can you inspire a ripple effect of change? Just ask Elba Pareja-Gallagher, founder of UPS Sustainability Trailblazers. Now more than 8,200 members strong, the group works to advocate, educate and innovate for environmental, social and governance (ESG) causes around the globe.

“Change for a better future feels more attainable to me now, especially since I realized how many people share my conviction,” said Rick Bittner communications strategy manager. “Elba’s energy is contagious. It shaped how I think and inspired me to join the UPS Sustainability Trailblazers and do more.”

What’s the story: Elba has a passion for sustainability and for helping people develop their leadership skills. This enthusiasm is the foundation for the UPS Sustainability Trailblazer program – giving UPSers the tools, resources and inspiration to be agents of change.

The bigger picture: Change often starts with one person’s vision, but Elba – UPS’s sustainability director of stakeholder engagement – knows it takes a multitude of like-minded people to solve big problems.

UPS driver from Green Cove Springs celebrates 25 years of safe driving – Clay Today

A Clay County resident and commercial truck driver braves a Jacksonville-to-Tallahassee commute every day and is celebrating a quarter of a century of safe driving.

Alise Lyke, a Green Cove Springs resident and Orange Park High graduate, is celebrating 25 years of safe driving with UPS. Originally a criminal justice major, a conversation with a convincing friend pivoted her toward UPS in 1990.

“A good friend of mine approached me with a job and an opportunity, I just happened to be at the right place at the right time,” she said.

Money and benefits are one thing, but Lyke favored the company’s strict regimen. She likes being involved in how people and business function.

UPS Stays Connected with the Pros of Business in Augusta Spot – Little Black Book

When director Jordan Rodericks saw The Martin Agency’s deck for UPS, supporting the Small Businesses of Augusta, GA, he felt compelled to make his own edit.

“I’m not an editor. But as a long time producer, one of the most important things I’ve watched directors do is create their vision for the agency, the earlier the better.” His edit clinched the job for SpangTV and soon they were off to Augusta, GA.

This creative brief focused on small business owners as the true ‘pros’ of Augusta and the energy of their day-to-day lives.

“The concept that the team at the Martin Agency presented was perfect for Jordan,” said Melanie Cox, executive producer at SpangTV. “The rhythm of their script felt so much like the ESPN work he had done previously. From the beginning he wanted to scout locations and people and include some of his own photography too; I think his fingerprint is right there with the creatives.”
