Love is in the air – literally – UPS

UPS expects to ship 89.1 million flowers for Valentine’s Day

Impressive numbers:

  • 90% of flower volume ships 2-3 days before Valentine’s Day.
  • The extremely delicate and perishable flowers are temperature sensitive, and UPS has a cooler the size of five basketball courts in Miami to keep each stem beautiful.

UPS driver delivers kindness in viral social media post – WDJT

Jeremy Watson, a UPS driver, delivered more than just a package last Friday, and now his small act of kindness is getting a big reaction on social media.

“I was just out doing my route, I came out of the building and I seen the lady standing on the corner, and she was blind. So then I just asked her, I said, ‘are you okay, do you need any help?'” Watson said. “And she was like yeah, I’m looking for my Uber.”

Watson saw the Uber across the busy intersection and offered to lend a hand.

“I asked her if she needed some help and she said yeah, I’d love some help, so I grabbed her arm and we walked across the street,” Watson said.

I’m a UPS driver. I’m paid well and like the solitude, but management still makes me want to quit most days. – MSN

As a UPS delivery driver for many years, I’ve experienced everything from the good and the bad to the downright ugly.

The delivery job itself is an ideal fit for me because I tend to be a loner

With the exception of the 20 minutes in the morning when I’m inside the building to pick up my truck filled to the brim with packages, I’m on my own all day without any supervisors or co-workers, and that’s how I prefer it.

Seniority, which is solely based on your start date, is literally everything to drivers. As a member of the Teamster’s union and a full-time driver averaging a 50-hour workweek, I gained enough seniority last year to bid on and win a dedicated route, which is a pretty big deal.

Clean Energy and Enbridge Partner to Make CNG Available to UPS Canada Fleet Vehicles in Ontario – Business Wire

Clean Energy Fuels Corp. (NASDAQ: CLNE), along with its industry partner Union Energy Solutions Limited Partnership, an unregulated affiliate of Enbridge Gas Inc. – an Enbridge Company, announced it has signed an agreement to fuel United Parcel Service (UPS) Canada delivery fleet vehicles with compressed natural gas (CNG) at its London, Ontario station.

UPS Canada has converted 25 package delivery vans to operate on CNG – a lower carbon alternative to gasoline. The Clean Energy-operated CNG fueling station, located near the UPS facility in London, will provide an anticipated 2,000,000 litres (525,000 gasoline gallon equivalent) of CNG in a multi-year agreement. Fueling the trucks with CNG will reduce 700 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions–the equivalent of planting 11,667 trees, removing 152 cars from the road, and recycling 281 tons of landfill waste.

“We are excited by the growing use of CNG in Ontario that will significantly lower greenhouse gas emissions and result in a positive environmental impact to reduce local air pollutants,” said Chad Lindholm, senior vice president, Clean Energy. “UPS has led the way in sustainable transportation for many years and we’re pleased to partner with them to expand their clean natural gas fleet in Canada. We’re pleased that UPS continues the migration of its package cars to CNG in Canada and applaud their sustainability efforts.”
