What did he get in the primaries?????? He got about 3% of the population to vote for him. Way more than 3% are complete idiots, so I'm surprised he didn't get more. But maybe some of those idiots were just too stupid to even register.
And still got more votes than any other Republican in history in the primaries. Your kneejerk liberalism is kicking in. I'm very dissatisfied with him as our candidate. But then I'm a Ted Cruz supporter, which will probably make your head explode.

You are aware that most Americans don't want the country run on your religious beliefs, aren't you??????
We even put it in the Constitution.

Another Christian "persecutor". As much as I hate Trump, Cruz scared me more. A true theocrat.

I like what former house majority leader Dick Armey once said. ' This nation will never allow the religious right to use the hammer of law as the means to forcibly impose their religious views on the American people as a means of controlling their behavior". I heard him say that after he left office and was free to speak his mind.At the same time as a Center-Left Democrat, I believe Trump will win the election but his followers will come to the realization Trump is no more capable of giving them back their perfect little worlds than any one else. As a result he will lose control of Congress in the 2018 off year election and 2020 will LBJ 1968 all over again. Trumps get crushed in the Iowa and New Hampshire primaries then decides not to run again.

Bernie Sanders has rightly pointed out Clinton's cronyism. She and her husband have made $21 million in two years giving speeches to special interests who are buying access to her presidency..
Dontcha just love a heartwarming rags to riches story? Hill and Bill really pulled themselves up by the bootstraps after coming out of the White House "dead broke". Should serve as an inspiration to us all.

You and Brownie should read my reply to Bacha. I was just tweaking you. But as far as saving for retirement, fine if you have a job that pays well. Tens of millions don't and please don't get into how they should better themselves. The dirty little secret of American capitalism is that in order for many to do well many more must just get by.

The dirty little secret of American capitalism is that anyone can do well no matter how many others do well, just get by, or do poorly. The dirtier little secret is that modest saving/investing starting at the age of 18 will provide exponential growth between then and retirement. The dirtiest little secret is that most 18 year-olds don't know or care about such things at that age.

I don't buy defeatist attitudes. Sorry.

I don't see where Van needs to stop anymore than you need to stop Dano. It's not that they don't realize the need to start saving but rather they don't have anything to save as evidenced by the growing number of young adults still living with their parents. The exponential growth in personal wealth is by no means assured given that you are talking about a time line of more than 40 years. Illness, injury, divorce, job loss, recession, war, currency devaluation, inflation, deflation bankruptcy any number of things can happen over that time span. In your sheltered little world you're free to make these dumb assumptions.

That's great in periods of high growth if you have the income to take advantage of it. Look at the Census Bureau's breakdown of income in every county. Fact is that most work for relatively little. Used to be there were in most counties a solid middle class but the reality now is that it's shrinking. I for one want an economy where there are many opportunities and business competes for workers. We don't have that now, and the large corporations in particular are beholden to Wall Street, and are doing everything possible to hold pay down. And there's a large pool of the unemployed competing for fewer well paid jobs. YOU might do better than most, but most can't or won't and need Social Security in their retirement.

Van, stop. Just stop.
Stop what? I'm not saying we're serfs now or will be. I'm pointing out that Marxism resonated with Russian serfs as explained to them by Marxists. If you lived in that system you not only lived extremely poor, but speaking out could get you killed. Along comes a Marxist who tells ignorant peasants that if they take this gun and fight they could have a wonderful life where everyone is equal. It wasn't capitalism they were resisting, it was the divine right of the Russian aristocracy to hog all the wealth. The thing is if you look around at what's going on, our corporate leadership is creating a similar environment that a significant number of our population feels can only be fixed with socialism. A lot of it is class envy, but a lot is greed by corporate elitists that creates anger in a population with limited upward mobility. If you truly believe there's nothing going on, that this is black helicopter stuff, you're in denial and should stop, just stop, and reassess.

He needs to stop because he's a good guy with good points sometimes. You aren't.

I think you're nuts and spend too much time worrying about crazy stuff that doesn't matter.

Good points VanT. At one of the most challenging times in it's history the American people are left to choose between two of the most unqualified presidential candidates to come along in generations. Upon realizing that whoever gets the job shouldn't have the job, one of more rogue or hostile nations will mount a serious foreign policy or military challenge the moment that completely unqualified and unprepared new president takes office and upon discovering what they have got themselves in to will want out after just one term assuming they don't quit before then. Better hope they have a top notch VP in the wings.Unfortunately there are no Teddy Roosevelts, Harry Trumans, or Gerald Fords around these days.

I don't think anyone will ever be qualified enough in the eyes of today's 24/7 media and social media environment.

Just like what was predicted with Reagan in 1980.

"Anyone" can't do well, and capitalism requires an underclass to make it work, If everyone was a successful entrepreneur/business owner, who would do the work at lower pay so there was a profit? A basic fallacy about capitalism. Please see "free market" for further enlightenment.
