I'm a new hire package handler at the CACH facility near the Chicagoland. Was told they had an PT mechanic opening. Is it really worth it and what are chances of going full time? I'm assuming they are IAM Local 701. Have 8 years experience and was previous 701 member.

Sweet diggity, I'm a twilight package handler. I start next Wednesday and want to do a good job so I can maybe be kept on p/t in the future, and also to try and make the driver's and other handlers lives a bit easier.
What do you wish someone had told you before you started this position? Also...

Alright, so there are tons of posts which I have read and re-read on here. Feel like I have some decent info, but really want feedback from others on my potential plan.
So I'm 33, I have been a desk jockey for 5 years. Pay is okay not great, health benefits are expensive, I work 8-4 M-friend...
Hi everybody,
I am a new-hire PT package handler working the Preload shift at a moderately large (imo) center in the Midwest(we have 5-6 different colored belts with my belt containing ~12 trucks...is that large? Sorry I am new :P ).
I've been with UPS for little over a month+1/2 now and am...
I want to eventually become a Ups package delivery driver. I've worked a couple seasons with UPS as a driver helper. I'm aware that you would typically have to start at an entry level position to work your way up to driver. I'm currently part of a different trades union but I am thinking of...
I just started there about two weeks ago, I have not been told anything about rules. I work there part time as a package handler I love working there but have no one to explain the rules. Where can I find the rules for the package handler job? I have not attended any type of orientation and I...
I was hired as a permanently PT package handler and work in Irregs inside the hub for day sort. Can I become a driver helper just during peak and then go back to PH?
Friend was called in to come to work next week. But not to much information was given. Told her to come in at 8am. She received a phone call a few weeks ago and she asked if she wanted to do driver helper and package handle and she said yes.
Curious to know about working two position.
Is the...
Hi all. I live on the NY/CT border. I applied for seasonal driver in CT a couple of weeks ago and have passed the background check and waiting on a road test... In the meantime, I also just applied for a package handler job in NY (I need a job bad, so I apply for everything). If I get the...
So, I just started as a package handler a couple weeks ago at the Portland Hub.
I am new to the union, and have never been apart of one before. So I'm not sure how to voice any opinions or what not, or even how to contact my union rep.
One issue I would like to ask for the next contract has to...
First of all, good afternoon and many salutations to you salty UPSers you.
I am a former package handler who started as a driver helper in Manhattan. I got the permanent position shortly after peak season and worked there for about 6 months before leaving. I want to become a driver and at my...
Back again,
I have yet to see this covered in the forums, and I've been itching to ask it.
I know UPS hires seasonal driver helpers off the street, but can a current PH opt to be a driver helper during the peak season?
Or do they only offer it to off the street hires so they don't have to...
Hello, so it's been six days since my ups package handler information session. the HR guy told us it will be a few days to hear back probably for interview. How long does it take, or did it take in your experience, to be scheduled for the formal interview after info session? Want this job a...
I'm a part-time loader that got struck in the head by a metal irreg during my shift. Of course I told my supervisor what happened, but apparently didn't officially report it until I talked to the full time manager the next day. They put me on light duty for the night, only for me to ask to go...
I am usually a full time student(this semester only part time due to money issues/long story) and I have a big family(6) that is very busy(both parents work, I work, Siblings all play sports, and all of them go to different schools). I get sick very easily, and often(every month or so someone...
Hello fellow present and former UPSers. I have schizophrenia. I know that probably doesn't matter, but for me it does. I don't want to get into details, but I've dealt with bullying in the past at UPS and still do a bit. I'm a Package Handler. I don't think people like me there, well they think...
So, i got hired in August for a part time package handler position and i have been working here and plan to work here for another year at least. My only concern is do they lay off like union employees too with the seasonal hires after peak. Until now, i had to call out 3 times for legitimate...
So i just called off right now cause i have a fever and strep throat and my sup texted me that i will be getting a warning letter. my fevers calming down but my throat still continues to hurt like a buddyh. if i call off again will that make things worse? or will i still just get a warning...
I've just finished my first week of working as a package handler and so far the job keeps getting easier and more enjoyable every day.
I'm somewhat overweight, so I'm hoping to lose some serious weight working here.
Some questions I have:
-How sustainable is going to the gym before or after...
Yeah, didn't get hired, and now can't apply to any location in the area and it says that my ifnromation has been saved. Want to reapply at a different location with a different HR to package handler, made a dumb mistake in the interview but know I can get in.
