I do have to say that there are a lot of people who seem thrive on the struggle and fighting rather than the having an informative discussion.
Ron Carey is as corrupt as any union leader we've had and he was TDU's boy. I think the '97 strike was a personal agenda of his and did not accomplish anything for us. It hurt UPS reputation, it hurt our customers, it Gave our competition an advantage and has created the constant scare that some of my customers still talk about to this day especially around contract time.
I realize that we have to negotiate what's best for us the company and the union but I guess what I'm trying to say is my passion is more bent on job security, a good penison, and benefits and so far we've done pretty well.
We're not lying down by accepting this contract..If that were true why wouldn't the union authorize a strike like they did in '97? It' because UPS is helping to bail out the Central States and those bros ought to be pretty excited that they get another chance at having a pension at all..
