The going corporate trend now a days... reducing management in order to look good on Wall Street.

With the UPS Contract looming corporate wouldn’t have a leg to stand on if they ask for more Union Concessions if they continue to award and maintain their non essential management positions.

It is now a matter of forcing or buying out their long term management people...those employees know it is coming...many will leave at the end of the year once the Company eliminates their Retirement vesting.

They are saving maybe %20 in the short term and probably none or less in the long term as chronic shortages of lithium will make gasoline prices look like a discount.

IMO the best system a futurist could think of would probably be a two-vehicle system. One to drop loads the other to make local deliveries. Like a local, small scale version of what the hubs already basically do which is to take in feeder loads and distribute them to package cars.
