Amazon looks to the sky to store products - Reuters

Amazon.com Inc has filed for a patent to use airships to store products and serve as a base for delivery-drones.

According to the patent filing, drones launched from the so-called "airborne fulfillment centers" (AFCs) would use far less power than those launched from the ground.

The AFCs would hover at about 45,000 feet (13,700 meters) and be restocked and resupplied by "shuttles or smaller airships." bit.ly/2ihP1AU

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Are the Avengers on this airship guarding the packages?

Maybe not, but it IS an interesting way to combat the energy problem - that being, picking up every delivery package by drone off of the ground and flying it, vs. rolling it there in a truck. The truck wins by a mile in this case, uses a fraction of the energy.

BUT, if you stock once with a large air filled blimp, then one off deliveries by drone are "downhill".

I don't know if the math really works, but it IS an interesting out of the box proposal.
