“I am not an advocate for frequent changes in laws and Constitutions. But laws and institutions must go hand in hand with the progress of the human mind. As that becomes more developed, more enlightened, as new discoveries are made, new truths discovered and manners and opinions change, with the change of circumstances, institutions must advance also to keep pace with the times. We might as well require a man to wear still the coat which fitted him when a boy as civilized society to remain ever under the regimen of their barbarous ancestors.”Source?

I've never run across anyone who has such a problem understanding the difference between a democracy and a democratic republic. The 52 yes votes represent 17 million fewer voters than the 48 no’s. We need to reform the court and Mitch just gave us the reason.
They're called amendments.“I am not an advocate for frequent changes in laws and Constitutions. But laws and institutions must go hand in hand with the progress of the human mind. Frequent, the implication being he is in favor of changes to laws and constitutions. This isn’t hard to follow. The constitution was never meant to be seen as perfect handed down by god.He said laws and institutions must advance, infact the quote starts with him saying he is NOT an advocate for frequent changes to Constitutions. Jesus Christ guy
But not only that, id interpret institutions as Universities. So I think we should follow his advice and get our Universities caught up to speed on Conservatism and leave the left in the past. Outdated tech...
"Happy for us that when we find our constitutions defective and insufficient to secure the happiness of our people, we can assemble with all the coolness of philosophers and set it to rights, while every other nation on earth must have recourse to arms to amend or to restore their constitutions." --Thomas Jefferson
TtkuThey're called amendments.
Look it up and get back to us fren.
It is not to be changed by some liberal judge, that's for sure. The framers intended the constitution to change over time. They never expected it to be revered as a religious text.
With all due respect you are being a silly hysterical bitch."Happy for us that when we find our constitutions defective and insufficient to secure the happiness of our people, we can assemble with all the coolness of philosophers and set it to rights, while every other nation on earth must have recourse to arms to amend or to restore their constitutions." --Thomas Jefferson
Interpretation is what judges do. It’s literally their entire job. To pretend a “textual“ interpretation is any more valid than a progressive one is foolish. It is not to be changed by some liberal judge, that's for sure.
I’m sorry our nation’s history upsets you so much. Context around the constitution matters in its interpretation. With all due respect you are being a silly hysterical bitch.
You are losing it. You don’t respect Thomas Jefferson. To you he is nothing more than some of slave raping white man who helped institute white supremacy in America.I’m sorry our nation’s history upsets you so much. Context around the constitution matters in its interpretation.
Now who’s being a hysterical little bitch? You are losing it. You don’t respect Thomas Jefferson. To you he is nothing more than some of slave raping white man who helped institute white supremacy in America.
What ever you say my little jamestownian. Now who’s being a hysterical little bitch?
Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes."Happy for us that when we find our constitutions defective and insufficient to secure the happiness of our people, we can assemble with all the coolness of philosophers and set it to rights, while every other nation on earth must have recourse to arms to amend or to restore their constitutions." --Thomas Jefferson
They built in a process for change called amendments. You may have heard of them. That allows change, but not easy change by radicals. The framers intended the constitution to change over time. They never expected it to be revered as a religious text.
Harry Reid removed the filibuster for approving judges. Thought the Democrat controlled Senate with Obama would fill vacancies with liberal judges. Surprise! And when it comes to rigging courts at all federal levels nobody knows more about that than Mitch and his minions.
Your problem, one of many, is you see change as one sided. Your way or the highway. Elections have consequences. It's the president who nominates judges and justices. Not the majority of voters.Frequent, the implication being he is in favor of changes to laws and constitutions. This isn’t hard to follow. The constitution was never meant to be seen as perfect handed down by god.
