Would I call a fireplace place to see where the draft coming through the fireplace side vents are coming from, or someplace else? Not the outside vents, because those are closed off.

Crabgrass preventer is a must in the spring...pre-emerge.

Yeah and you have to time it almost perfectly when it warms up.

I wait until the forsythia come in full bloom, then I drop my Pre-m. I use Dimension 0-0-3.

Dimension gives a little extra cushion of time as it will kill early germinated crabgrass.

Forsythia bloom at the same time, same soil temperature, crabgrass germinates at.

Rule of thumb… I have it down before the for Forsythia leaves fall

Is it on the side of the house or somewhere in the middle? If it is on the side, you may have to repair/repaint the siding. If it is in the middle, have you considered taking it down to the roof line rather than removing it completely?

it is the middle. removing it gives me more space in a room I got.
