Today was the best 2'nd to last day of the year because all of the feeder peak helpers got their walking papers at my building. No more mysterious accident damage to equipment, no more cocky attitudes, no more "no air horn" write ups and best of no more hearing how great their other jobs were compared to this one. If your such a great driver why the heck are you jobless in July when parcel is interviewing peek help!!!

Why dont the feeder tractors have air horns? First time I realized it wasn't equipped I thought, "WTF?".

Let me guess----you grew up standing on the corner making that "honk your horn gesture" for years.

No but all the trucks my dad, uncles and grandfather drove had air horns. Plus every triaxle and tractor I worked on had air horns. Ive worked on trucks that were built in the late 60s to today. Few weeks ago I replaced an injection pump on a 76 Mack dump truck. It wasn't until I started at UPS did I realize air horns were an option.

The only things allowed to make excess noise at UPS are the PT Sups-----but its more of a whining noise.

WOW! what are you so angry about?

I started out as a peak Feeder driver. Actually quit my regular job to work UPS peak. Since $9 an hour truck driving jobs were so plentiful in the early 90's I knew I could find another job after peak.

5 months after peak UPS called me and asked if I wanted FT. At $18.75 I said ya and never looked back. Worked here for almost 25 years I always had a special empathy for the peak hires as they were told that maybe they could be hired FT after peak. I always tried to encourage peak drivers to keep on trying even if they had to start at the bottom . Some of them were in their 30's but I told them it would be worth it in the long run. It was rare but a few made it FT as feeder or as road supes. Granted, that was the exception.

All I can say to you is be careful about Karma.......it's a bitch.

They do piss me off when they read me off their resumes and cite the jobs that paid more than the first three rungs of progression. Of course , many of these jobs were at companies that no longer exist.

I try to be helpful to these guys and answer their questions as honestly as I can but then they start bitching to me as if I am the guy behind the policies that for the most part keep them on the other side of the fence.

Still, I try to be nice to them , you never know when one of the casuals will become your on road supervisor. It happens.
