My biggest hold up other than the massive tax increase is that government health insurance is a large reason private insurance costs so much.

Here's an example. My wife makes $100ish an hour. So that's what insurance should get billed right? Well not exactly. Medicare and Medicaid are only going to reimburse the hospital at $20ish an hour. Therefore private insurance is going to get charged a whole lot more to make up the difference.

I just thought it was interesting. I'm a communist at heart, so don't get me started.

She made that her primary goal once she became a doctor. She wanted to be debt free except for houses.
