My last dog was old and hardly showed her age (other than slowing down a lot) until it suddenly caught up to her at once. She had a couple of strokes and couldn't even walk so I had no choice. Before that even though she slept most of the time she wasn't suffering or in pain.

She did have a mild stroke a couple of years before but mostly recovered.

Had to put one of our dogs down tonight. He was 15, and a royal pain in the arse. Gonna miss that mutt.

We knew it was time, but thought we would have to convince the vet. She said, sometimes, a stranger needs to tell you it's time......and it's time.

I had another dog that had an auto immune problem (like lupus) and I was taking him to the vet every couple of weeks and spending hundreds of dollars. I finally had to force the vet to give me a direct answer. Can you do anything to get him better and if not why do you have me keep coming back just to be told that yes, he is getting worse? The vet wouldn't make the call that it was time until I forced the issue. I had problems with another dog and finally changed vets because I stopped trusting him.

You did the right thing Trip , a dog is tuff to lose , I put mine down 3 yrs ago and I choked up like an 8 yr old boy , sat in truck for half hr to compose my self ,, I'm soooo sorry for the loss I'm sure you gave it much love

He did. The vet must of gave him 30 treats before hand.
