yeah, been raining here most of the day. Just a drizzle, tho. Nothing heavy. yep....those signs are all over town. also ones that urge you to fill up your gas tank.

What happens when 2 to 3 feet of rain gets dumped on a swamp?
Houston was originally built on a swamp, but everything is concrete now. Houston proper is 50-125' above sea level, depending on what side of town you're in. My house is on top of a hill. I've never flooded in the 30+ years I've been here.

I'm not worried about the rain, or flood for that matter. I'm concerned about when the wind blows and electrical wires start slapping together. We were out of power for almost 2 weeks when Ike hit here in 2008.

I planted a magnolia tree I got from the woods in my backyard when we moved into this house. It was probably 1.5' thick when it fell during Ike. Luckily, it fell against my patio cover and didn't hit the house.
