I took my son and his then current girlfriend to their first NFL game several years ago (Bills/Pats in Buffalo). Seats were $100 each (would have been at least double in Foxboro). Gas, meals, lodging and $20 to park in some guy's backyard put the trip at about $500.

That is why attendance is down.
