From Mn. to Maryland and Canada. Where is she at? I never knew it was also called a larch. I've got 5 acres loaded with trees but I've only ever found one tamarack.

There are a few around here but we call them larch. Only ones I have seen were planted for landscaping but it is native to Ohio.

Other than it making excellent fence posts because it is naturally resistant to moisture and its a very hard wood (chuckle chuckle) its just another tree.

Some kind of locust. Good fence post wood.

Around here, the larch is a type of evergreen that loses all it's needles in the fall, and regrows them in the spring. Not quite evergreen, but not really deciduous.
