I believe brandy is distilled wine.

Shine is distilled fermented grains.

Whiskey is aged shine. In barrels to give it a distinctive flavor and take the edge off.

and Everclear is just plain ethanol.

I know all those cooler drinks use wine alcohol. It's cheap. They ferment all the crap left over after pressing.
