The wife and I still are in love---we just don't subscribe to the idea that just because someone says you have to buy your spouce something--you HAVE to. We would rather spend our money on GOOD stuff--not chocolates, flowers and expensive meals you just crap out the next day. We haven't bought each other gifts (Christmas, anniversary, birthday, valentines day or any other holiday?) in 40 years. It sure takes a lot of pressure off those days. We do take trips and buy pretty much what we want for ourselves all year long.

I think it depends on the income level. If a guy is earning $100,000 a year I’d be insulted by boxed flowers. If he was only making $30,000 I would think it sweet.
